On 21 September 2024, the Executive Council of the Union of Women Engineers (MiGiGOB) held a crucial consultative meeting aimed at strengthening coordination, transparency, and leadership effectiveness across the organization. The meeting was chaired by the Union’s Chairperson, Eng. Ikran Abubakar Mohamed, whose leadership continues to guide MiGiGOB toward greater institutional growth and impact.
During the session, council members engaged in open discussions focused on organizational development and the future direction of the Union. The primary agenda for the day was the creation of an official nomination structure for the various leadership sectors within the High Council and the Central Council. This initiative represents an essential step in formalizing governance processes, ensuring clear responsibilities, and supporting the Union’s expanding activities within the engineering community.
Participants shared perspectives on leadership needs, departmental roles, and ways to reinforce a more inclusive and collaborative decision-making environment. The meeting concluded successfully, with members reaching full agreement on the nomination framework. Preparations are now underway to finalize the selected nominees, and the official list will be publicly announced in the near future.
This development highlights MiGiGOB’s continued commitment to promoting strong leadership, empowering women engineers, and enhancing the Union’s capacity to support professional growth, innovation, and representation across the engineering field in Somalia.
