About Us

Empowering Somali Women Engineers for a Brighter Future

The Banadir Region Women Engineers Association (BRWEA) is a professional network founded in March 2023 by visionary Somali female engineers from various universities. We are dedicated to empowering women in engineering through mentorship, collaboration, and skill development — creating a strong community of women leading Somalia’s rebuilding and innovation.

BRWEA connects professional and student engineers from over 15 universities in Mogadishu and surrounding areas. Together, we share experiences, organize training, and promote women’s participation in engineering and national development.

I am very happy and proud to welcome Somali women engineers. This community creates real opportunities, including pathways to employment and professional growth. Although women are still underrepresented in engineering, the time has come for equal competition and collaboration. I wish all Somali women engineers great success in their careers.
