The Mogadishu Women Engineers Association (MiGiGOB) held a special gathering to celebrate International Women in Engineering Day, bringing together aspiring engineers, students, and professionals for a day of inspiration, knowledge sharing, and recognition of women’s contributions to the engineering field.
In the group photo above, participants—mostly young women in engineering—stand proudly together at the event venue, reflecting unity, ambition, and the growing presence of women in technical fields across Somalia. The atmosphere was lively and empowering, with discussions centered on engineering journeys, role models, and the importance of visibility for women in STEM.
As part of the celebration, attendees also showcased architectural and engineering models, several of which are pictured above. These creative structures demonstrated the talent, innovation, and technical skills of participants. The models displayed thoughtful designs, environmental considerations, and structural creativity—highlighting the bright future of women engineers in the region.
The event served as a platform for:
- Storytelling: Participants shared their academic and professional journeys.
- Peer motivation: Young women received encouragement from fellow engineers.
- Technical exhibition: Engineering design models illustrated practical skills and creativity.
- Community building: The gathering strengthened networks and collaboration among women in engineering.
MiGiGOB continues to champion opportunities for girls and women pursuing STEM careers, working to ensure they are empowered, supported, and represented in Somalia’s engineering landscape.
