
On 9 June 2024, the Chairperson of the Union of Women Engineers (MiGiGOB), Engr. Ikram Abubakar Mohamed, participated in a special forum organized by the administration of Somali International University (SIU).
The event brought together engineering graduates, faculty members, and industry voices to celebrate academic achievement while encouraging the advancement of women in technical fields. The forum centered on the theme:
“Empowering Female Engineering Graduates.”
Key discussions explored how to strengthen support for women entering engineering, the importance of professional mentorship, and the role of universities in opening greater opportunities for female graduates. During her participation, MiGiGOB’s Chairperson highlighted the Union’s mission, its ongoing efforts across the Banadir region, and the initiatives dedicated to supporting women engineers from education to employment.
She also recognized SIU for creating inclusive learning pathways and for providing meaningful opportunities for all engineering students especially young women pursuing careers in the field.
MiGiGOB remains committed to advocating for gender equity in engineering, strengthening collaboration with academic institutions, and empowering the next generation of women engineers across Somalia.
